Makes everyone focus on anything fat, round and pinkish with a curly tail. This morning I overheard a couple of teachers talking about an article in the chinese newspaper that was so amazing I had to go see it for myself. And true enough, just as they said, it was smack in the middle [ok, maybe slightly to the right of the center] of the chinese papers was an article reporting about a pig. In China. Reared by a woman. It seems that this lady was conned into buying a baby pig from some fortune teller in belief that it would bring her good fortune if she were to raise it well. [I wonder who would fall for a scam like that?] And boy did she raise it well. It has been 4 years since she bought the pig and today and it has grown to a massive size. It has been living in luxury in the house, yes IN THE HOUSE of the misled China lady and has grown to almost the full length of a sofa. Because of my proficieny in the language [and laziness to read] I did not get much more information on the pig, the only think I know is that it's face is black, literally. 3/4 of it's face is covered by a black patch, almost like a mask. And it's loving master is still taking good care of it. Maybe it is true that the pig did bring her good fortune. Ain't the news media fortune enough for a lonely typical China lady? Doesn't that make her like semi-famous? Maybe there would even be people approaching her to do sponsorships. Maybe I should start thinking of rearing a pig in my home too. But most probably it wouldn't last past 1 year as you know how much Chinese love pork. Anyhow written on Feb 6, 2007 at 2:00 PM
