0 bored people said something about this If you're wondering why I didn't post anything during the weekend, it's because I had one of the worst weekends in a long time. Well, it was not exactly WORST worst, but if you look at it from a negative point of view it just could be classified under the 'very bad' category. Was supposed to wake up early on Saturday morning to go rollerblading with Jes but in the end we 'just happened' to sleep in late and by the time we got up it was already 11+. Since I was the first one up, I turned on my laptop to check my emails and the usual stuff. But as I was getting off my chair to go to the washroom, my right knee decided to get to know the corner of my sister's shelf better due to the area constraints of the room. They even celebrated their meeting with a loud 'BANG". So the innocent party [me] was left rolling on the floor in agony while Jes and my sister got a loud, unsual and rude wake up call. Closer inspection revealed that my knee was slightly scraped and the slightly scraped piece of skin was still left hanging on to the corner of their lovely meeting. Anyway, still determined not to miss out on our rollerblading session, we got changed and made our way across to East Coast Park. Being the fitness freak that I am, we made up for our missed gym session last week by doing our abs-ercises on the concrete slabs they call chairs under one of those sheltered kiosks. A word of advise to everyone out there: DO NOT DO SIT-UPS ON SOLID GROUND WITHOUT CUSHIONING. Little did it occur to us that the slight pain we felt on our lower back was actually an abrasion caused by too much rubbing of our lower spine against the concrete seats. Even now in the office I have to sit unsually straight just to avoid having contact with the injury. And it's no small abrasion... came up to almost a 2cm x 1cm injury. And the worst part is, I had to wear a handiplast on it to prevent it getting worse by rubbing against my jeans, and due to the placement of the wound, that handiplast had to be stuck on horisontally in order to cover the entire wound, which meant that 1/4 of the handiplast was seeping into my buttline!! One of the most uncomfortable experiences I've had in a long time. So enough of the hurting, I had actually planned to go to Nokia this weekend to upgrade my handphone software to prevent it from hanging as well as to increase the efficiency of it running programs. But by the time we came back from rollerblading, it was almost 3pm. And since the inefficient Nokia service centres take a whole of 4 hours to upgrade a freaking software, and taking into consideration that they close at 8pm, it was obviously too late for us to bring my phone down that afternoon. But nevertheless we headed down to Suntec to catch a movie only to discover upon reaching there that there were only 2 movies that could fit our time schedule. Ghost Tunnel and Bable. Seeing that Bable had 7 Golden Globe nominations, we decided to take a chance and watch this "you will never guess what this movie is about by looking at the poster which has non-existant movie info on what the movie is about" movie. And just as expected, it was a boring political movie that only tried to prove 2 things: 1. Not all arabs are bad guys / terrorists. 2. Japanese girls don't mind getting naked and showing their bits in front of a camera over and over again. Other than that, it's just a poor attempt at making a "fit the puzzle pieces together" type of movie, a.k.a. The Last Dance, which I heard from friends that was also a miserable movie. This is one of the few movies that I walked out of the cinema screaming "WTF!" And the bad luck didn't end there, in fact it actually seemed to carry itself over to Sunday. I was planning to have our usual K-Lunch in the morning, but it seems like Mr Sandman likes to make people oversleep these days. Woke up around 11.30, which was already half an hour past the starting time, hence no singing. Slacking around at home and watching a bit of TV took us to almost 1pm until we finally decided that it was time to go out. Trying to keep myself in high spirits, we went back to Suntec to try to get my software upgraded again. Why didn't I leave my handphone there overnight on Saturday you ask? Well, I don't want no ah bengs bringing my phone out and about at night taking weird photos of their weirder girlfriends making a fool of themselves by making even weirder monkey faces. Come on, don't tell me you haven't received those emails saying that the service staff actually take ownership of your phone when it's supposedly supposed to be locked up safe and tight after they are done servicing it? And that was just within the 4 hours of servicing, let's not go into what could happen if you leave it over night. Anyway, back to the topic, we reached Nokia Care around 3pm, only to learn that they close at freaking 5pm on Sundays! Another failed attempt. I'm starting to get really pissed about Nokia Care. And the best part is, I've been trying to upgrade the software through the Internet via their 'Software Upgrade' software but in the end it always just spits out a 'No updated versions of your software are available' error when my software is only 2.something while the latest in the market now is 3.something. So having had enough of my phone, we wandered around Suntec and Marina Square in hopes of finding some Chinese New Year clothes for me. If you know me well enough, you would know that the probability of me finding clothes that I like is 2 times that of getting a royal flush in poker. But amazing during this weird weekend where everything was cocked-up I managed to buy almost $200 worth of new year clothes which leaves me with a big blackhole in my pocket for the rest of the month, well maybe until Chinese New Year when the hong paos start pouring in. 0 bored people said something about this I'm bored. So I decided to start a weekly game right here on my blog. The rules are simple. All you have to do is come up with a sentence or phrase that contains today's key-word, and substitute it with today's sub-word. Slight modifications to the key-word/sub-word like past/present/future tenses are accepted. For example: KEY-WORD : drink SUB-WORD : pee Sentence : Being the rebel that he was, he stood up and peed into his soft drink right before the usher's eyes when he was told that peeing was to be done outside the cinema. Entries will be judged on the humour, meaningfulness and fluency of the sentence. Since this is the virgin game, lets all share our ideas by posting your entries on the comments. If this goes well, I might even consider providing a reward [monetary or otherwise] to the winner of future contests... And of course a spot in the hall of fame by the side of my blog. So lets get started!! Today's KEY-WORD : Money Today's SUB-WORD : Monkey Anyhow written on Jan 28, 2007 at 11:59 PM

0 bored people said something about this It seems that MOE Internet connections have problems with blogger. Maybe it's because they tracked me to be accessing it almost everyday and decides to semi-block access to blogger sites so that employees under MOE roofs won't be wasting time blogging or blog-surfing in order to increase our effeciency... Or maybe it's just because the connection sucks. Anyway, I've double checked my blog at home and everything seems fine and dandy. So I apologise to my readers and Blogger for what I said yesterday about Blogger screwing up. It ain't your fault, it ain't my fault, it's just the stupid connection's fault. Blogger is always good. Last night I made a visit to my optometrist cause lately I've been feeling that the vision from my left eye still seemed a bit blurry even after I made my new specs just about 2 months ago. So after sticking a million and one lenses into that cute, round, little spectacle-like thingy in front of my face, he concluded that there was nothing wrong with the vision in my left eye... The problem actually lies with my right eye... because it was TOO CLEAR. This was the first time I was hearing something like this. That my lenses for the right eye could be reduced slighty if I wanted to because even if he reduced it, there would be no difference in my vision. But because my right eye was too clear now, my left eye would see a little blur, but in actual fact it was all normal and good. We learn something new everyday yeah? So the next time you think your eyes are giving you problems, rather than thinking that you might need to increase your degrees, you might just only need to reduce rather than increase. And another thing, cataract is a scary thing. For those who live on the other side of the mountain, in the words of dictionary.com, A cataract is an opacity that develops in the crystalline lens of the eye or in its envelope. Early on in the development of senile cataract the power of the crystaline lens may be increased, causing myopia, and the gradual yellowing and opacification of the lens may reduce the perception of blue colours. Not that any of these is actually happening to my eyes [phew~] but my mum however has had cataract since a few years back. And during the visit, she requested for a check-up on her vision. So here's the list which she was supposed to read, in actual size too... yes. It was this big. and with 100 degree lenses, "Can't see a thing". With 1000 degree lenses, "Not much of a difference". OMG. Luckily she had already operated on her left eye therefore she was not totally blind. And of course the optometrist suggested that she make a trip down to the surgery clinic to get it operated on when she's free. OMG, i still can't believe anyone couldn't see the number. So in the end me and my sis just stocked up for about half a year of contact lenses and made our way back. Oh, and before we headed home, the girls stopped over at This Fashion to do some shopping. [Typical of girls] And as I was wondering aimlessly through the tons of women clothing, I bumped into an old Taekwondo friend. Actually this isn't the first time I've bumped into him. We sometimes pass each other's path in the mornings while on the way to work cause he lives somewhere near my work place. We chatted for a while and left with a swift goodbye. Sometimes you'll meet friends in the most unexpected places, so make sure you don't wear anything too shabby even if it's just going opposite your house to get your lunch. Anyhow written onat 8:54 AM

Updated daily with the latest breaking news and interviews with soap stars, this 6 month old website has the potential to be great and is growing at an intense rate. It contains a good mix of show listings, news updates and pictures, and even has it's very own forum sorted by individual shows so you can have your say on whichever show you like/hate. The important content is easily found through it's simple yet effective navigations. Soap opera fans will definitely get hooked on this site, but even for non-fans it provides a good range of information on shows and stars that would be interesting to know. The only set-back is that they don't have uploaded videos of shows for their visitors to view. Maybe given some time, this could be their next step into Soap Opera domination. 0 bored people said something about this I did say that I was going shopping for new clothes over the weekend right? Well, I didn't manage to finish all of my shopping but I did get a couple of items from the shelf. I found this cool, black Billabong shirt with some printing by the top left [when I'm wearing it, or top right when you're looking at me] of the shirt. I've been trying to find something like this for a long time but nothing could grab my attention, until I saw this. For those of you who do not know me very well, let's just say that if you're trying to buy clothes for me that I would like, you'd have a better chance of success surviving 20 laps around a swimming pool filled with crocodiles. I'm the sort of person who can walk through the entire Orchard Road and not buy a single item if I don't fancy any. The only clothes that I would buy would be those that give me that *ddrriiiingg* feeling immediately when I see it. And once I spot it, I'll most probably be in and out of the store with a new piece of clothing in 5 minutes. And price is no object. So anyway, through my entire weekend, I managed to get 1 shirt and 1 boxers. But I still need more cos the shirt is 99% black and I'm sure to get drowned by all the nagging of those old-fashioned relatives about wearing black during Chinese New Year. I mean, what's the big deal? It's just a colour! I really don't understand what is it with the older generation and the colour black. It's like the colour black killed their grandparents or something. They seem to have some kind of family feud with black, treating it like their arch nemisis whom they must kill in order to revenge the deaths of their grandparents. The real reason why people wear black to funerals and ill-meaning occasions is because... The people 500 years ago decided to go with black! It could have been any other colour, red, blue, white, heck... They could have even decided that being naked would be a solemn dress code! So if they really did that, would it mean that people wouldn't even bathe? Or rather everybody would bathe with their clothes on just to avoid being caught in a solemn or inauspicious dress code? 0 bored people said something about this Today finally claimed my half day off in liew for that night when I stayed OT for some conference in school. So that explains why my MSN title reads 'anyhow@home' at this time of the day. Got plenty of stuff that needs to be done this weekend. Having said that, needing to do things doesn't neccesarily mean that they would be done. Anyway, enough of philosophical algorithms, here's the list of what NEEDS to be done this weekend, in no particular order of time or preference. [Definition of weekend being the time I'm off from work, which means now, till the time I start work]... 1. Accompany PiPi and Angel on their shopping spree 2. Attend PiPi's relative's wedding dinner [Since her sister and husband can't attend, I'm practically going there on the house. Yippie~] 3. Do my Chinese New Year shopping for clothes. Target : At least 1 top and 1 bottom. <- This might seem easy, but not when you have anyhow's acute sense of fashion. 4. Kill that irritating mosquito that has been flying around my laptop for almost a week. 4. Prepare for one of the busiest Monday's I'll be having next week. Ok, mum's screaming at me to eat my lunch. Maybe will update a little more later. Chow~ Anyhow written on Jan 19, 2007 at 12:46 PM

0 bored people said something about this I've been reading a lot of Chinese / English horoscope articles about the coming year that dear has been flooding me with, and it seems that I have to thank my lucky stars cos for the year of the PIG, this little Mouse is supposed to be on top of the world in all aspects. Be it in terms of luck, wealth, work or romance, everybody is saying that it's up, up and up for us little mouses. Normally I don't believe in all this "stars : fate : destiny" kinda thing but obviously when somebody says that your sign is a good one you would like to believe it to be true. Anyway, I'm still not going to take any chances, I'm just gonna live my life as usual and see what pops up along the way. No use looking for gold if you don't have a bag to carry it home with right? But dear's fortune on the other hand is going down, down and down into the bottomless pit. All the 'Fung Shui' masters are saying that it is going to be a horrible year for the PIG [ironic, since it IS the year of the pig]. Hopefully some of my good fortune will rub off onto her. [Starts emitting auras of good fortune] Let's all pray that 2007 will be a good year for everyone of us! 'Army-Toufu...' Anyhow written onat 10:37 AM

0 bored people said something about this UPDATED!!! New picture added! It's the first time in 2007 since I've got some spare time to myself during work, although I assure you that I would be stuck in the labs immediately after my lunch hour, just like all the previous days before. But nonetheless, I won't let a perfect opportunity to blog go to waste! Work has been keeping me busy these few weeks, obviously cos it's the start of a new school term, and I AM working in a school environment. This explains the sudden lack of postings since the start of 2007. Nothing much has been happening around me this year. Been living my typical little life, going to my typical 8-5 [actually 8.30-5.30] job, getting my typical miserable income, playing typical games during the nights and spending typical weekends with my typical girlfriend. So typical of a typical Singaporean. [Have you ever noticed that when you keep using the same word repeatedly, you suddenly find that word somewhat weird and alien. I don't know if it's just me or does anybody get this feeling too?] Shit, I got side-tracked by my brain again. Much to the delight of my parents, I finally submitted my application for Singapore Institute of Management [SIM]. If all goes well, I would be starting my Computing and Information Systems course somewhere during April. Not that I'm blowing my own trumpet, but judging from the info that I got from some of my friends, I believe that my results should sucure me a place in SIM hands down. Anyway, the previous animation that I did [refer to previous post] gave me an idea. Instead of having these cool clips/images/animations up for almost less than a week, why don't I give them more exposure by leaving them a permanent link on my main page. So I went through some of my previous work, and decided to post a few of my nicer works up for all to admire. All these were done by yours truely without any external help. And as usual, I will have to wait till I get home to create a new link header for these links on the right. In the meantime, enjoy the beauty and creativity that comes in a small but fiesty package called anyhow... One of my first works. Used as a background image for my first blog. Wolf is drawn by me, moon is copied from some webby. One of my favourites. A poem composed by yours truely. Don't you think the picture adds a ton of meaning to the poem? Missing link page? Look again. As usual, edited by yours truely. Another poem by me. I think I still have a few more... will upload them when I get home. Anyhow written on Jan 16, 2007 at 9:56 AM
0 bored people said something about this UPDATED!!!! Yes!I've finished the animation! Time for you folks to enjoy!! Haha... It it just me or could it be a massive, 1st-in-the-world, creative advertising campaign by Channel 5? Have you noticed that ever since they started advertising their latest TV premiere of "The Day After Tomorrow", the rain has been pouring down on us non-stop. For those who like on the other side of the mountain, "The Day After Tomorrow" is a movie that depicks the coming of a 2nd Ice Age in the near future, when Mother Nature gets overly pissed with us humans destroying her body and soul, hence unleashing a natural chain of unnatural natural disasters upon us, which comes complete with a final icy-breath that covers the entire world in ice. Now back to the real world... We've experienced the heaviest rainfall in Singapore last December since 19... somthing... obviously a super long time ago. And after a few days of sunny sunshine, when everybody thinks that it's the calm after the storm, the treturous downpours come back to haunt us. I am definitely not a rain-person. Rain sucks. It gives you wet jeans, spoils your hairstyle, forces you to carry an additional, un-glam item called an umbrella and makes you start to walk like monkeys jumping along the street. But sometimes the rain does provide you with a slight ounce of entertainment value when you see the kind of sticky situations people get themselves into. Just yesterday, me and pipi were walking along a flooded Orchard Road with our umbrellas wide open, waiting for the traffic lights to change so we could cross the stupid road. And just as we were crossing the road, we came upon a little river at the end of the road, just in front of the pavement. So me, being the agile warrior that I am, didn't even miss a beat when I cascaded over the river with one mighty leap. Pipi on the other hand, hesitated for a while, then took 1 mightly leap... ... only to end up sole deep in the middle of the river!! It was one of the funniest things I've seen in a long time. I'd make a picture, heck even a flash animation if I could, but I don't have the softwares at work. Maybe when I get back home I'll do 1 so you guys can get the full effect of the situation. So anyway, so there I was, staring at her for the longest 2 seconds of my life before I burst out with laughter, and continued laughing all the way to the bus stop. But of course I did help her out of the river somewhere in the midst of all the laughter. But it seems that fate has a way of coming around and pinching you in the butt. After that hilarious incident, we made our way to get some 'Old Chunky' and thereafter proceeded to wait for our bus. And while I was happily eating my curry puff, my umbrella, which I placed in a slippery, transparent plastic condom, which I then placed on a slippery, wet marble slab they call a seat, just slippery happened to slippidy slip. So in an effort to use my acute reflexes to catch the umbrella, the curry puff I was holding on the other hand popped out of the bag and promptly made it's way to the wet concrete floor. Luckily my puff was already 3/4 eaten and I don't think many of the people crowding the bus stop saw the entire ordeal, which was over in like 5 seconds, or else I would have sued the rain. Ok, time to knock off from work. Hopefully I can get the animation [yes, I've decided to make an entire animation of the scene] done by this weekend and put it up for the world to see. Check back soon ya! Anyhow written on Jan 12, 2007 at 4:49 PM

0 bored people said something about this Finally back to serious work after a freaking long break, [4 working days in a 14 days] and boy was it hecktic. Did not even get a chance to do my own things from the moment I stepped into school [8.30am] until now [4.36pm], which is like only 1 hour away from my knock off time. And truth be told, I'm starting to get frutrated. Not by the teacher's who constantly hi-jack me for my services while I'm walking to take a piss, not by the printers that seem to have a conspricy of running out of ink all at the same time, not by the VP who constantly acts like she forgot to wear her underwear, but rather because of the stupidly slow laptops and desktops that need my constant attention. Honestly speaking, I could have finished everything I did today in half the time it took me if the computers were just a teeny bit faster. You can't really blame it on the computers though, because during the time that they were bought, they were obviously the ones with the minimum performance but still they were good... Until MOE decides to input all sorts of funky background applications that eat up what minimal RAM the computers already have, causing them to act like 92 year old grannies in the Standard Chartered Marathon. So if we really have to blame somebody, I guess we'd have to blame MOE then. Hopefully they will wisen up and get some higher quality laptops to replace those already condemned [including mine] so as to achieve better performance and efficiency from anybody using these computers. I really cannot imagine how teachers can effectively teacher their students anything when they have to wait 5 minutes just for the computer to get to the login screen and another 5 minutes for it to load all the applications and start being 'usable'. Did I mention the additional 5 minutes needed to wait for the powerpoint slide to load? That's a grand total of 15 minutes of good time wasted, or if you would, effectively half a period. Ok, enough of my blabbering about how unglam my work is, let's talk about 2007. Today is the 3rd day of the new year and I've decided to make a fwe New Year's Resolutions, or a wishlist if you would. I think 5 is already a very big number to achieve, but who knows? Maybe I just might be able to be Superman, so here goes... 1. Regain my long lost 6-pac [Do or die mission!!] 2. Get admitted to SIM and get at least a B average in ALL subjects [yeah right] 3. Get myself another pair of stylish Levi's jeans [not as easy as it sounds] 4. Hit 170cm [Mission Impossible??] 5. Erm... Dye my hair?? [MI : 2] I'll put up this wishlist on the side of my blog when I get home from work so that you guys can Anyhow written on Jan 3, 2007 at 4:33 PM
